Beginning Weaving on a Rigid Heddle Loom
Have you been wanting to learn about weaving?
Bring your questions and your creativity and come along on this adventure with us!
New weavers and those wanting to explore further--all are welcome!
We will use natural, locally-sourced yarns from Wendy, the shepherdess of Curly Goose Cottage, where fiber becomes yarn from happy sheep, goats and bunnies. Participants will learn about the rigid heddle loom and the dynamics of weaving, design a scarf with natural colors, warp the loom, and practice weaving and finishing techniques.
Advanced Weaving Techniques (pick up sticks and patterns)
This class is the perfect next step after taking the beginning rigid heddle weaving workshop. Learn a new technique and experience the magic of creating patterns using a simple pick-up stick. You will learn:

- January 6th: 9:30-12:30 and January 13th: 10:00-12:00
- Skill Level: beginner
- Workshop Fee: $325 (includes Ashford 16" rigid heddle loom, project yarn, and class instruction)
- $150 if you supply your own rigid heddle loom in good working order

Participants will learn about the rigid heddle loom and the dynamics of weaving, design a scarf with natural colors, warp the loom, and practice weaving and finishing techniques.

- Skill Level: must be familiar with weaving on a rigid heddle
- Class Fee: $84 + Materials Fee: $30 = $114
- Learn to weave a sampler / table runner
This class is the perfect next step after taking the beginning rigid heddle weaving workshop. Learn a new technique and experience the magic of creating patterns using a simple pick-up stick. You will learn:
- hem stitching, an alternative to knotted fringe done while your project is still on the loom
- how to create a 3rd shed and move beyond the simple over and under of plain weave to create warp and weft floats.
- floating selvedges and when to use them
Bring your own rigid heddle loom warped, set up and ready to weave. (See Warping Help, below.) Details and kit colors available for preview at Hope's Favorite things. You will need:
- 7.5 or 8-dent rigid heddle loom, 12-inch or more weaving width, set up and ready to weave with all accessories
- two shuttles for weaving
- pick-up stick included in materials fee
- tapestry needle
- tape measure
- scissors
Advanced Weaving Techniques (exploring double heddles)
- February 3rd: 10:00-4:00
- Skill Level: Must be familiar with weaving on a rigid heddle
- Class Fee: $150 + Materials Fee: $20 = $170
- You must have a double heddle kit for your loom!
In this class we will be creating a sampler of double weave techniques. You will learn:
- how to double the width of your loom and also create patterns using a double heddle technique.
- how a double heddle works and how to warp with 2 heddles
- patterns with a double heddle
- double width weaving
- tubular weaving
Bring your own rigid heddle loom. You will need:
- 7.5 or 8-dent rigid heddle loom
- loom accessories
- two shuttles for weaving
