Learn how to spin fiber on a suspended spindle -- and feel connected to the ancient art of making yarn. This timeless skill can be part of a daily meditative practice, and yields beautiful yarn with loads of character.

• You will learn:
  • the types of suspended spindles
  • anatomy of a spindle
  • how to draft your fiber
  • starting slowly with the "park and draft" method
  • the difference between S and Z twist
  • how to ply your singles
  • steps for finishing your yarn
• Bring a drop (or Turkish) spindle if you have one.  Hope will have several different types of spindles available for purchase in the shop, or you may borrow one of the instructor's student spindles to use during the class.  Sample fiber for spinning will be provided.
